Format of the workshop:
The workshop will consist of two main sections. The first one (Mon-Wed)
is dedicated to experiments based on the high-power lasers. The second
one (Wed-Fri) is dedicated to experiments based on the high intensity gamma photon beams.
Each of the sections will comprise presentations of the status of
implementation and the capabilities of the equipment in the facility,
aims of the commissioning experiments, and contributed talks by external
researchers presenting new ideas for future experiments at ELI-NP.
Round-table discussions and a visit to the experimental areas of the
facility will allow for a better understanding of the experimental
capabilities and a fruitful exchange of ideas between the participants.
Official Language:
The official language of the Workshop is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
On-demand taxi services are available at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport. You may order a taxi by getting a reservation
ticket with a taxi number (written on the side of the taxi, behind the rear door) from one of the touch screen units available in the
public area of the Arrivals Terminal, on the left and right sides after the passengers' exit after baggage claim area. The passengers
get on the booked taxis right outside the terminal, on the same floor, by showing the ticket issued by the automatic touch screen to the
taxi driver with the allocated number. Charges vary between 1,39 RON/km and 3,50 RON/km (approx. 0,3 - 0,8 EUR/km) and there are about
16 km between the airport and Bucharest city center, so the total cost of a taxi ride will amount between about 25 RON and a maximum of 60 RON.
As a cheap alternative: you may choose the 783
and 784 Express bus lines connecting Bucharest Henri
Coandă International Airport to the city center, or 780 Express bus line connection to the main train stations of Bucharest
(Gara de Nord and Gara Basarab).
From Gara Basarab there is then a direct bus to ELI-NP (781, see the Venue page).

In Romania you will use RON.
Several ATMs are available just in front of the Passangers Exit on the Arrivals
Terminal from the airport, and the EUR/RON exchange rate might range: 1 EUR = 4,7 –
5,0 RON, depending on the bank used.
The workshop participants have the option of lodging at the ELI-NP
Guesthouse, for a fare of 45 Euro/night, with breakfast included. The
requests for reservations have to be sent to userworkshop@eli-np.ro and
the booking will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. There is
also the option of serving dinner at the ELI-NP cafeteria.
Many other hotels are available in the Bucharest city center.
Transportation from the Houses of Parliament area (see map, meeting
point marked in blue) in Bucharest city center to ELI-NP and back will
be offered free of charge by our institute in the morning and after the
sessions.
The nearest hotels to the meeting point (2-5 minutes walking time) are:
Ibis Palatul Parlamentului Hotel, Parliament Hotel and JW Marriott Hotel.
Many other hotels are available in the Bucharest city center.
