We are pleased to announce the "Meeting for ELI-NP Users" as a satellite meeting of Nuclear Photonics 2020 (NP2020) [1] held in
Kurashiki, Okayama, in Japan on June 5th, 2020. This workshop is co-organized by Extreme Light Infrastructure–Nuclear
Physics (ELI-NP) and the NP2020 management team of Osaka University. As a potential ELI-NP user, you are cordially invited to
this workshop to learn the status of the ELI-NP facility and exchange opinions on how to use the ELI-NP facilities.
The Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) facility [2] has been constructed at Magurele in the southern skirt of Bucharest Romania since the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) has selected in 2006 the proposal of constructing new institutes for intense laser of the order of tens of peta watt. The ELI-NP is one of the state-of-the-art facilities in the world to provide extremely high-intensity laser of 2 beams of 10PW laser and high-brilliant gamma-ray beam at up to ~20 MeV energy. Using such two sophisticated extreme light sources a wide variety of scientific programs can be conducted in the many research fields such as nuclear physics, laser, plasma and material sciences, etc.
High Power Laser System (HPLS) has been completed and operational at 100TW, 1PW and 10PW outputs.
The commissioning experiments are being prepared now that have been discussed and approved by the International
Scientific Advisory Board. The Laser Beam Transport System (LBTS) is also completed while the main experimental
chambers are to be installed early in 2020. The first experiments will start in 2020.
After the commissioning, Day 1 experiments will start in late 2020 and in 2021 where expert and new users are more than
welcome to take part in. Various diagnostics will be ready for both commissioning and Day 1 experiments.
We will report the details of the facilities status and will discuss with you how to participate in the Day 1 experiments.
