2021-05-12

On May 5th 2021 the European Commission has taken the decision to establish the ELI European Research Infrastructure Consortium. The Consortium was established with four founding members, Czech Republic (ELI Beamlines), Hungary (ELI ALPS), Italy and Lituania and two founding observers: Germany and Bulgaria.
As stated by Allen Weeks, the Director General of the ELI Delivery Consortium, Romania with ELI-NP, the third pillar of the pan-European project ELI, is closely collaborating with the ELI ERIC members and it is expected to join the Consortium, first as founding observer, and after the completion of the gamma beam system as host member. At the moment, the three ELI pillars, in collaboration with other large research laboratories from Europe, are working together within the HORIZON 2020 European Union grant IMPULSE to establish common policies and rules at ELI ERIC level as well as to harmonize their resource management, technical and scientific procedures while ramping-up operations and opening for user access.
