On Wednesday, 13 October 2021, the "Horia Hulubei" National Institute for Research and Development in Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH) hosted the visit of the French ambassador to Bucharest, Her Excellency Mrs. Laurence Auer, and of the Italian ambassador to Bucharest, His Excellency Mr. Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni.
The visit took place in the presence of the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitalization (MCID), Mr. Tanczos Barna, Presidential Adviser, Mrs. Ligia Deca, Prime Minister Adviser, Mr. Valentin Sorin Costreie, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Research Innovation and Digitization (MCID), Mr. Iulian Vasile Popescu, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Iulia Matei.
The visit covered the Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) research facility and the U-120 Cyclotron at IFIN-HH.
The discussions addressed the topic of normalizing the scientific collaboration and cooperation relation between IFIN-HH and the nuclear physics research institutes in France and Italy. The Romanian side confirmed the Romanian Government's support for the implementation of the solutions proposed by IFIN-HH and the members of the EuroGammaS Association in view of solving the legal and technical issues occured between the parties during the implementation of the ELI-NP project.
The French and Italian ambassadors congratulated the management of IFIN-HH and ELI-NP for their progress in implementing the ELI-NP project and expressed their support for the steps initiated to solve the problems between IFIN-HH and the EuroGammaS Association.
