The Senior Researcher will work within ELI-NP Target Laboratory, part of the Scientific Division, and will collaborate with the researchers and technical personnel from the laboratory and within ELI-NP for implementing the experimental programs, operating and maintaining the experimental systems in her/his charge
The Senior Researcher will use hers/his competences to operate, administrate and monitor the tools and equipment in the Target Laboratory, provides support for the production and development of targets, is accountable for the operation and maintenance of the special laboratory equipment used for target manufacturing under hers/his responsibility
Main Responsabilities:
In the Target Laboratory of the ELI-NP, the Senior Researcher will have the following duties:
will develop and will be in charge of a new research direction within ELI-NP Targets Laboratory for fabrication of solid targets for high power laser experiments based on chemical processes
will develop new chemical-based processes for fabrication of solid targets and plasma mirrors
will guide, train, coordinate Master/PhD students and junior researchers working within ELI-NP Targets Laboratory
will advise the Head of the Laboratory in her/his area of expertise, will participate in the definition and implementation of research proposals for laser driven experiments and will present her/his scientific results at national/international conferences
will take responsibility and get familiarized with the pieces of equipment that will be assigned to
will take part in the maintenance activities for the equipment under hers/his responsibility
with take part in the acquisition processes within the Target Laboratory
will take part in training of the laboratory personnel and users in techniques related to hers/his expertise
will follow the internal work place safety procedures
will respects the data and information confidentiality
will provide technical support and operation for the scientific and engineering activities in the ELI-NP Target Laboratory intended for preparing and developing the activities specific to target production
will carry out periodic maintenance activities for the equipment under hers/his responsibility
will attend trainings in order to acquire the expertise necessary to carry out the activities within the laboratory under the best conditions
will keep records of available spare parts and follows the maintenance schedule
will take part in writing the procedures, instructions and technical reports for the equipment in the Target Laboratory that she/he will be assigned to
Main Tasks:
Professional background:
PhD degree in physics, chemistry or materials science
At least 10 years of experience in research and development or higher education, out of which at least 5 years of experience in development of targets for high power laser experiments or other fields related to ELI-NP research directions
In-depth knowledge of materials chemistry and the ability to prepare and characterize them
Willingness to share the acquired knowledge and the capacity to train other users in using the equipment in his/her charge
Ability to take part in complex research activities, ability to use complex research equipment, characteristic to the laboratory
Keen observer, punctual, responsible, fair, balanced, self-controlled, accurate information communicator
Fluent in English
Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures,
for part of their time.
