Engineer - Data Acquisition (DAQ) and Control

Laser Driven Experiments Department


    Scope of work:
  • The DAQ and control engineer will develop, operate and maintain integrated control and data acquisition systems for the high-power laser experiments at Laser Driven Experiments Department. The work will ensure optimal and safe operation of the experimental setups and will provide appropriate algorithms to automatically control and interface various equipment and systems
  • Main Responsabilities:
    In the implementation phase:
    • Design and construction of data acquisition and control for the Laser Driven Experiments Department experimental setups, market research and writing specification for equipment purchase, communication with companies, installing, testing and commissioning of the equipment
    • Provide technical support for the experiments
    • Maintain the performances and the optimal use of the equipment
    • Assist Laser Driven Experiments Department users in integrating their experiments in the ELI-NP DAQ and control system
    • Upgrades of existing equipment and development of new experimental setups
    • Ensuring the conformity of the activities with the standards in the field
    • Actively participate in the technological development activities performed at ELI-NP
    • Main Tasks:
        Professional background:
        • Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Electronics/Computer Science/Automatics or related field
        • Experience with developing complex control and data acquisition systems, highly desirable
        • Programming skills in one or more languages (e.g., C++, LabVIEW, Matlab, Simulink), and Windows or Linux proficiency, a must
        • Hands-on hardware experience, good analytic and design skills
        • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
        • Teamwork experience, communication and efficient collaboration skills
        • Availability to travel and perform work stages abroad
        Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
        • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

        • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
