The Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer's activity consists in providing support in operating, and maintaining the IT services within ELI-NP such as E-mail(Postifix+Dovecot), Webmail(Squirrelmail), DHCP, Web, VPN, all based on Linux(CentOS7). Also he/she will be involved in the operation of the virtualized IT infrastructure of ELI-NP. In the case of virtualized IT infrastructure the focus area consists of the hypervisor layer (CentOS/KVM) and of the associated components, services (incl. container providers: Docker) and/or applications. Furthermore, the IT Infrastructure Engineer will provide specialist support for the preparation and/or review of the technical documentation for IT equipment purchases within the ELI-NP Departments
Main Responsabilities:
Main Tasks:
Support in operation and maintenance processes of the IT services, and ensure their
optimal, highly-available functioning
Manage the VPN and E-mail users accounts
Responsible with back-up operations
Involved in operation and development of the DHCP service(firewall configuration, routing table maintenance)
Take part in the operation and maintenance processes of the IT infrastructure used for
the web services
Install, configure, and maintain the virtualization infrastructure components and related
third-party software utilities within the operational guidelines of the Institute
Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management for the services related to the aforementioned items
Serve as an escalation point for complex internal support and troubleshooting cases
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all underlying resources, systems and key processes, periodically reviewing system and application logs
Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps
Provide knowledge transfer to colleagues as required
Effectively collaborate with cross-departmental teams and provide SME guidance/feedback
Be involved in providing technical support for the infrastructure services (computing, storage, networking) offered by the ELI-NP IT Compartment
Professional background:
Higher education graduate with an engineering diploma, preferably in a computer-science related major
Good knowledge of Linux
Ideally a first job/traineeship experience in IT
Experience with scripting and/or monitoring tools represents a plus
Solid general understanding of IT
Good interpersonal skills, a strong team spirit and a result-oriented attitude, as well as a capability to deliver when working under tight deadlines
Ability to establish new standards for quality, performance or productivity
Fluent in English

Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .
