Junior Researcher - Theoretical and Computational Physics with High Intensity Lasers

Laser Driven Experiments Department


    Scope of work:
    The Junior Researcher will perform scientific computations and theoretical developments in all the main scientific directions of LDED, participate in scientific working groups, assist the research of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, and participate in the implementation of the scientific aims of Laser Driven Experiments Department (LDED). Personal research and collaboration initiative will be encouraged.
    Main Responsabilities:
    • Promote and perform research activities with the supervision of a Senior Researchers
    • Participate in research activities led by Senior Researchers
    • Take part in scientific meetings and conferences
    • Main Tasks:
      • Performing the specific tasks within the Research Department led by a Senior Researcher;
      • Participating in scientific meetings and conferences;
      • Promote and/or perform research activities in short pulse, PW-scale laser-matter interaction
      • Providing support for the preparation of the technical documents for the acceptance of Project's deliverables
      • Actively and efficiently involving in the dialog and communication within the ELI-NP team and promoting a harmonious collaboration framework
      Professional background:
      • PhD degree in a field related to the research activity at ELI-NP
      • At least 2 years of experience (CS) and 4 years (CS III) in research and development or higher education, out of which at least 1 year of postdoctoral studies in theoretical and computational physics with high-power lasers, or closely related fields, such as:
      • o laser-plasma interactions and particle acceleration; o nuclear physics; o Monte Carlo simulations of particles propagation through matter; o Particle-in-Cell and hydrodynamic simulations of experiments with high-power lasers. o development of PIC codes or post processing tools for PIC codes.
      • Good publication record
      • Excellent references in research
      • Fluent in English
      • Proven teamwork experience, communication and efficient collaboration skills
      Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
      • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

      • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
