Technician - Detector and Spectroscopy Laboratory

Gamma Driven Experiments Department


    Scope of work:
  • The ELI-NP technician will ensure the technical support for the equipment and the experiments during both the implementation and the operational phases of ELI-NP. In the operational phase, the technician will supervise the nuclear detector and spectroscopy laboratories and will assist physicists in nuclear research. The technician will operate and monitor special equipment used in the Gamma Driven Experiments Department (GDED)
  • Main Responsabilities:
    • Managing the day-to-day activities of the Gamma Driven Experiments Department (GDED) Detector and Spectroscopy Laboratories
    • Acquiring the necessary knowledge and getting sufficient expertise for the installation, maintenance and monitoring the functioning of radiation detectors and other spectroscopy equipment
    • Providing technical support for scientific and engineering activities, for the preparation and development of the Gamma Driven Experiments Department (GDED) experimental setups
    • Participating to the market research and writing specification for equipment purchase, communication with companies, installing, testing and commissioning of the equipment needed for the implementation of the Technical Design Reports
    • Providing assistance and technical support during the operational phase of ELI-NP to maintain the best performance of the detectors and spectroscopy equipment
    • Main Tasks:
      • Installing, acceptance testing, maintaining, supporting and documenting of detector systems and spectroscopy equipment within the Gamma Driven Experiments Department (GDED)
      • Providing technical support for scientific and engineering activities
      • Actively and efficiently communicating within the ELI-NP team to promote a harmonious collaboration framework
      • Participating to the preparation of technical documents and reports
      Professional background:
      • Secondary school/high school diploma with technical specialization or a Bachelor degree in a technical area
      • Experience in providing technical support within research and development laboratories
      • Good control of English
      • Proven teamwork experience, communication and efficient collaboration skills
      • A structured and organized approach towards work
      • Adapting quickly to shifting priorities and requirements
      • Availability to travel and perform work stages abroad
      • Experience in work with radiation detectors
      • Experience in digital/analog electronics
      Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
      • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

      • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
