The Junior Researcher will work in the Technical Division, the Target Laboratory, and will collaborate with the technical and experimental teams within the laboratory and within ELI-NP for implementing the experimental programmes, operating and maintaining the experimental systems in his/her charge
The Junior Researcher will use his/her competences in research and development for developing new materials used as targets in the experiments at ELI-NP, for producing the materials used as targets in high power laser and gamma beam experiments, for drawing up procedures for the production of these materials and for using and maintaining the equipment in his/her charge
Main Responsabilities:

In the Technical Division of the ELI-NP research infrastructure the Junior Researcher will have the following duties:
will ensure routine operation for part of the production and analysis equipment in the laboratory (ultra-high vacuum coating system via RF/DC sputtering; optical lithography equipment - mask alignment equipment, spin coater, X-ray diffractometer);
will train the laboratory personnel in using the above mentioned equipment
will plan, under the guidance of the laboratory coordinator, an equipment operation schedule, so as to ensure continuous support for the research activities
will plan, under the guidance of the laboratory coordinator, the maintenance schedule for the equipment in his/her charge
will take part in devising the production procedures
will propose new research topics for developing new materials
will attend conferences and will write articles or patent proposals with the research results
will take part in the public procurement procedures, in all their stages (writing the technical specification document, technical evaluation procedure and follow contract performance);
will attend professional training courses/internships at the request of the Target Laboratory Coordinator
Professional background:
PhD in science: physics/physics-engineering/chemistry/materials science
At least 2 years of experience in research and development or higher education after the PhD, of at least 1 year in materials science, physics-engineering or experimental physics
Work experience in research teams
Experience of working in research project teams
Capacity to train other users in using the equipment in his/her charge
Ability to take part in complex research activities, ability to use complex research equipment, characteristic to the laboratory
Highly-developed technical skills, disciplined, positive, result-oriented, keen observer, punctual, responsible, fair, balanced, self-controlled, accurate information communicator
Fluent in English
Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .
