Technical Division


    Scope of work:
  • The engineer/physicist will work in the Technical Division, in the Target Laboratory, and will collaborate with the technical and experimental teams within the laboratory and within ELI-NP for implementing the experimental programmes, operating and maintaining the experimental systems in his/her charge
  • The engineer/physicist will use his/her competences to operate, administrate and monitor the tools and equipment in the target laboratory, provides support for the production and development of targets, is accountable for the operation and maintenance of the special laboratory equipment used for target manufacturing
  • Main Responsabilities:
    Main Tasks:
      In the Technical Division, the Target Laboratory of the ELI-NP research infrastructure, the engineer/physicist will have the following duties:
    • will provide technical support and operation for the scientific and engineering activities in the ELI-NP Target Laboratory intended for preparing and developing the activities specific to target production
    • will carry out periodic maintenance activities for the equipment used in the Target Laboratory under the guidance of the Head of Laboratory; the main equipment found in the laboratory are: vacuum coating systems via RF/DC sputtering and with electron beam, optical lithography equipment, inductively coupled plasma corrosion equipment, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope, heat treatment furnaces
    • will attend training and specialist training to acquire the expertise necessary to carry out his/activity under the best conditions
    • will keep records of available spare parts and follows the maintenance schedule recorded by manufacturers in the user manuals
    • will create databases with the target material manufacturing procedures
    • will take the necessary measures for the safe use of laboratory equipment and tools
    • will provide technical support (installations, maintenance, changes and troubleshooting) for the smooth operation of laboratory equipment and optimises repair and maintenance operations so that they can be as short as possible to ensure continuous production
    • will take part in writing the procedures, instructions and technical reports for the equipment in the Target Laboratory
    • will assist researchers in fulfilling responsibilities, in keeping with the tasks and duties within the Target Laboratory
    • will give assistance in writing the procedures for the production of target materials
    Professional background:
    • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: physics-engineering, electrical engineering, materials science
    • Proven working experience in the field
    • Good knowledge of the technologies relevant to the laboratory
    • Basic knowledge of computer operation and text editors
    • Capacity to train other users in using the equipment in his/her charge
    • Ability to take part in complex research activities, ability to use complex research equipment, characteristic to the laboratory
    • Highly-developed technical mind, disciplined, positive result-oriented
    • Keen observer, punctual, responsible, fair, balanced, self-controlled, accurate information communicator
    • Fluent in English
    Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
    • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

    • Motivating salary, at European level, based on qualifications and experience.
    • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
