Post-doctoral research assistants will ensure part of the scientific expertise needed to prepare the ELI-NP experiments. Post-doctoral research assistants will pursue their activity in the working groups led by Research Scientists. Personal initiative concerning scientific research will be also encouraged.
Main Responsabilities:
Participate in research activities led by Senior Researchers
Take part in scientific meetings and conferences
Take part in the definition and development of the ELI-NP experimental programme
Conduct theoretical calculations of cross sections and astrophysical reaction rates with state-of-the-art reaction models
Participate in the simulation of photonuclear reactions that are to be measured at ELI-NP
Main Tasks:
Performing the specific tasks within the Department led by a Senior Researcher
Participating in scientific meetings and conferences
Participating in the specific activities during commissioning and installation phase, such as:
-Perform large-scale calculations of cross sections and astrophysical reaction rates for the radiative capture and the photonuclear reactions in nucleosynthesis, mainly on the basis of Hauser-Feshbach model
-Develop and update the direct reaction model for radiative capture reaction
-Perform theoretical studies on nuclear structure, especially on testing and constructing new optical model potential for charged particles
-Integrate the nuclear structure information into the reaction model for systematic calculation
-Participate in the simulation of photonuclear reactions that will be measured at ELI-NP with GEANT4 or FLUKA
-Participate in the preparation of future photonuclear measurements at ELI-NP
Providing support for the preparation of the technical documents for the acceptance of Project's deliverables
Actively and efficiently involving in the dialog and communication within the ELI-NP team and promoting a harmonious collaboration framework
Professional background:
At least 1 year of experience after PhD in research and development or higher education in fields relevant to studies in nuclear physics, such as:
-studies related to nuclear structure
-studies related to nuclear reactions
-studies related to nuclear fission
PhD degree in a field related to the research activity at ELI-NP;
Good publication record
Excellent references in research
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Proven teamwork experience, communication and efficient collaboration skills
Goal-oriented attitude;
Willingness to continuously improve and develop new skills
Availability to travel and perform work stages abroad;
Experience in theoretical research of nuclear reaction or nuclear structure, especially in one of the following topics: low-energy nuclear reaction models, optical model potential, low-lying spectroscopy, or photon strength function
Expertise in programming language such as FORTRAN, C/C++, or Python
Experience in GEANT4 and ROOT would be a plus
Windows and Linux proficiency
Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania, for a period 1 (one) year with the possibility of extension. .
Included: private medical coverage, paid annual leave.

The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures,
for part of their time.
