Junior Engineer/Physicist - High-Power Laser System

Laser System Department

    Scope of work:
  • During the implementation phase, laser engineers will participate in all activities of factory testing, installation and commissioning of the HPLS (High Power Laser System) and LBTS(Laser Beam Transport System). They will participate in all training activities provided by the HPLS and LBTS suppliers related to laser systems
  • During the operational phase, the laser engineers will ensure the smooth operation of the HPLS and LBTS, and they will play an active role in the design and implementation of the planned upgrades of the HPLS
  • Main Responsabilities:
    Main Tasks:
    • Understand the technical aspects and requirements in operating high-tech equipment
    • Assist the experienced Engineers in all activities related to installation, testing and commissioning of the high power laser systems (HPLS and LBTS)
    • Assist the experienced Engineers in the development activities related to laser systems
    • Assist the experienced Engineers in providing technical support for high power laser related experiments
    • Actively and efficiently get involved in dialogue and communicate within the ELI-NP team, promoting a harmonious collaboration framework
    Professional background:
    • Bachelor or Master's degree in Physics or Engineering in the field of Automatics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, etc.
    • Excellent academic performance
    • High ability to learn and understand project's equipment and technologies
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Being able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind
    • Adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements
    • Ability to work in a team and efficient communication and collaboration skills
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills
    • Fluency in English
    Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
    • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

    • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
