The Radioprotection Engineer/Physicist will work in the Technical Division, the Dosimetry Laboratory, and will collaborate with the radioprotection team at ELI-NP for implementing, operating and maintaining the radiation monitoring systems
The Radioprotection Engineer/Physicist will assimilate the necessary knowledge to carry out radiation assessment programmes for the experiments performed in the facility and will conduct studies in this respect, delivering results to be further used for developing/improving the radiation protection system and for obtaining the permits necessary to operate the experiments

In the Technical Division, in the Dosimetry Laboratory of the ELI-NP research infrastructure the Radioprotection Engineer/Physicist will have the following duties:
will operate the active ionising radiation monitoring systems used at ELI-NP
will take part in carrying out the procedures for the authorisation of the Dosimetry Laboratory
will operate the equipment for measuring and recording the doses for the occupationally exposed personnel
will maintain and improve the active ionising radiation monitoring systems at ELI-NP
will define the ionising radiation monitoring in accordance with the valid CNCAN authorisations
will perform radioprotection calculations for authorising the activities at ELI-NP
will take part in all activities for implementing the active ionising radiation monitoring systems from the ELI-NP experiments
will assimilate the operating procedures for the active area and personnel monitoring systems
will perform the area dosimetry monitoring, according to the procedures, for the ELI-NP experimental areas, both before and after operating the experiments
will optimise the functioning of the active ionising radiation systems throughout their operation, with a view to improving equipment reliability, protection, and ease of use
will ensure the maintenance and smooth operation of the radiation monitoring equipment
will propose procedures for radiation monitoring in the experimental areas, depending on the experiments conducted within the facility
will create the technical documentations for obtaining the permits necessary for operation in accordance with the legislation in force
will calculate the derived limits of emission of radioactive gas effluents resulting from ELI-NP operation
will cooperate on a permanent basis with the radioprotection service from IFIN-HH to make sure that the derived limit of annual emission of gas and liquid effluents on the IFIN-HH/ELI-NP site, imposed by CNCAN, is not exceeded
will draw up the environmental radioactivity monitoring programme on the ELI-NP site and will submit it to CNCAN for approval
will implement the ELI-NP site radioactivity monitoring programme and will write the reports requested by CNCAN
will perform radioprotection calculations to define the shielding and to estimate the radiation doses for the experiments within the facility
will make sure that the radiation monitoring systems implemented operate smoothly
Professional background:
Specialised training: bachelor's degree in engineering, physics or technological physics
Advanced knowledge of computer operation and text editing programmes, basic knowledge of programming media for radioprotection calculations
Ability to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind
Ability to adapt quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements
Fluent in English
Proven teamwork experience and efficient communication and collaboration skills

Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .
