"I am honored to be present in this place which shows that Romania can be the first in the world!". These are the words written by Prime Minister Lodovic Orban, today, in the Guest Book of Honor of ELI-NP, opened for the first time in September 2016 by former French President Francois Hollande on his visit to Magurele.
In the meantime, the Laser has become fully functional and operational and the experiments with phased laser beam will begin in January 2020.
Today's visit of Prime Minister Ludovic Orban is the second one made by a Romanian official at the beginning of the mandate after President Klaus Iohannis. "And the results of this visit are in line with expectations," said the general director of ELI-NP, Nicolae Zamfir.
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has given assurances that the Government he is leading will support this research project very important for Romania, but also that the funds for it will always be found.
Moreover, the nuclear medicine center - now vital for the health system in Romania - to be opened in collaboration with the health authorities and the specialist doctors based on the research done by the scientists from ELI-NP will be supported by the Government - said Prime Minister Lodovic Orban without giving more details.
Another problem now facing the ELI-NP project - concerning the difficult hires - could have a solution. Regarding the field of research, Prime Minister Lodovic Orban has estimated that it would not be enough to increase the budget for this segment of economy, without a "smart" allocation, as he called it!
