Signing Ceremony for the VEGA System at ELI-NP

On October 4th, 2019 at ELI-NP took place the signing ceremony for the installation of the Versatile Gamma-ray (VEGA) System by the US company Lyncean Technologies Inc. (Fremont, CA). As a sign of support, His Excellency, the US Ambassador in Romania, Mr. Hans Klemm joined ELI-NP's team and the representatives of Lyncean Technologies in Magurele on October 5th for the first technical meeting. Acad. Nicolae Victor Zamfir, Director General of IFIN-HH and Project Manager of ELI-NP, talked about the important applications of the state-of-the-art equipment that will be installed by Lyncean Technologies, among which characterization of sensitive nuclear materials, nuclear power plants optimization, border control checking for nuclear materials and the production of new radio-pharmaceuticals. He also warmly acknowledged the Ambassador's enthusiastic support of the project since its very beginnings. Dr. Michael Feser, CEO of Lyncean Technologies, stressed that the VEGA System "is a new tool with unprecedented capabilities", expected to deliver important developments in clinical methods of diagnosis and treatment, of the kind achieved by the X-ray machine installed at the Munich School for Bioengineering.
