    Scope of work:
    The Gamma Driven Experiments Department (GDED) of Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP, Romania) is looking for a Senior Researcher (CSII) to join its growing research staff. The Variable Energy Gamma (VEGA) system will provide almost fully polarized ?-beams at low energy bandwidth, thereby enabling studies in the field of nuclear structure and applied science via high-intensity photonuclear applications. The successful candidate will coordinate the Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei Group and help toward the implementation of the GDED's scientific objectives, in collaboration with its other researchers, engineers, post-docs and PhD students
    Main Responsabilities:
  • Coordinating the activity of the Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei Group of the GDED
  • Implementing the GDED's scientific strategy and developing the proposed experiments
  • Capitalizing on the obtained scientific results through conference talks and published articles
  • Strengthening, expanding and increasing the visibility and reputation of the ELI-RO-NP project at both national and international levels
  • Managing all stages of the public procurement procedures for the purchase of specific equipment, materials, services or works necessary for the implementation, operation and maintenance activities of the associated experimental systems
  • Preparing students and young researchers in the field of Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei
  • Main Tasks:
    • Manages the activity of the Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei Group of the GDED
    • Assumes responsibilities regarding the theoretical development and supervision of the experiments performed in the field of Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei
    • Manages the dissemination of the Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei Group's research results at scientific meetings and conferences
    • Supervises the acquisition, installation and commissioning of the Radioactive Ion Beams and Exotic Nuclei Group's experimental equipment
    • Proposes, develops and fosters collaborations on research topics pertaining to their field of expertise at a national and international level
    • Participates actively and efficiently in communicating with the ELI-NP team so as to promote a harmonious collaboration framework
    • Provides assistance to the Head of the GDED with specific scientific and administrative tasks
    • Continues to develop professionally within their research field as relevant to ELI-NP
    Professional background:
    • PhD degree in a field relevant to the research activities of interest to ELI-NP
    • At least 10 years of experience in research and development or higher education, out of which at least 5 years of experience in experimental nuclear physics
    • Excellent references in research
    • Good publication record in radioactive ion beams and/or exotic nuclei research
    • Expertise in all development stages of experimental research programs in the field of radioactive ion beams and exotic nuclei studies
    • Expertise in data acquisition and processing
    • Excellent programming skills in C/C++;
    • Expertise in experimental setup simulations with GEANT4 and SimIon
    • Data analysis experience using ROOTs
    • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
    • Proven teamwork experience, communication abilities and efficient collaboration skills
    Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
    • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

    • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
