The IT Infrastructure Specialist's activity consists in providing advanced engineering, operating, and subject matter expertise for the virtualized IT infrastructure of ELI-NP. The primary focus area consists of the hypervisor layer (Microsoft HyperV) and of the associated components, services and/or applications. Furthermore, the IT Infrastructure Specialist will provide specialised support for the preparation and/or review of the technical documentation for IT equipment purchases within the ELI-NP departments
Main Responsabilities:
Main Tasks:
Produce and operate complex, enterprise-level designs for the Microsoft HyperV virtualization platform and ensure its optimal, highly-available functioning
Install, configure, and maintain the virtualisation infrastructure components and related third-party software utilities within the operational guidelines of the Institute
Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management for the services related to the aforementioned items
Serve as an escalation point for complex internal support and troubleshooting cases
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all underlying resources, systems and key processes, periodically reviewing system and application logs
Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation,
configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps
Provide knowledge transfer to colleagues as required
Effectively collaborate with cross-departmental teams and provide SME guidance/feedback
Be involved in providing advanced technical support for the infrastructure services (compute, storage, networking) offered by the ELI-NP IT Compartment
Professional background:
Higher education graduate, preferably with a Computers/Electronics/Informatics/Cybernetics diploma. If the diploma is in other field than the ones mentioned above, a Microsoft certification (e.g. MCSA) or minimum 5 years in similar position it is a must
Experience working with Microsoft virtualization technologies. Experience with Microsoft Host Guardian Services represents a big plus
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server/HyperV 2016 based virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with other server-side infrastructure elements/roles from the Microsoft stack is considered a plus. Insight in alternative virtualization solutions (commercial or open-source) can also represent an advantage
Experience in monitoring and automating the virtualization infrastructure (SCCM/SCOM families,
PowerShell scripting, etc.)
Solid networking knowledge, especially in relation to the virtualization stack
Vendor certifications that apply to the aforementioned technologies and/or products are considered a plus
Up-to-date knowledge of and practical experience with industry best practices or standards, both IT- and security-oriented (topics such as backup & replication, hardening, etc.)
Solid general understanding of enterprise-level IT systems and of the associated operational and security requirements
Experience in interacting with vendors and solutions/technology providers
Good interpersonal skills, a strong team spirit and a result-oriented attitude, as well as a capability to deliver when working under tight deadlines
Ability to establish new standards for quality, performance or productivity
Fluent in English

Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .
