Technician - Mechanics and Vacuum R&D

Laser Gamma Experiments Department


    Scope of work:
    • The ELI-NP Technicians will ensure the technical support for the equipment and the experiments during both the implementation and the operational phases of ELI-NP. In the operational phase, the technicians will participate to the update and upgrade of the experimental setups and to the development of new experimental setups in LGED )
    Main Responsabilities:
    • Acquiring the necessary knowledge and getting sufficient expertise for the installation, maintenance and monitoring the functioning of the equipment
    • Providing technical support for scientific and engineering activities, for the preparation and development of the experimental setups
    • Providing assistance and technical support during the operational phase to maintain the best performance of the ELI-NP
    Main Tasks:
    • Installation, acceptance testing, maintenance, support and documentation of systems within Laser Gamma Experiments Department (LGED) related to vacuum systems and high precision mechanics
    • Providing technical support for scientific and engineering activities
    • Actively and efficiently communicating within the ELI-NP team to promote a harmonious collaboration framework
    • Actively participating in the technological development activities performed at ELI-NP, specifically at LGED, related to the mechanical, vacuum and automation systems
    • Participating to the preparation of technical documents and reports
    Professional background:
    • High-school graduation diploma
    • Post high-school technical training or University courses in one of the fields: fine mechanics, vacuum technologyP
    • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas:
    •     - Construction and maintenance of high precision mechanical systems
          - Assembly and/or maintenance of high vacuum systems
    • Fluency in English
    • Proven teamwork experience, communication and efficient collaboration skills
    • Availability to travel and perform work stages abroad
    • Would be a plus:
    •     - Familiarity with vacuum technology principles (e.g. pumping speed, partial pressures, line conductance) and vacuum-compatible materials;
          - Experience in using CNC machining for custom-made components
    Working arrangements/Conditions of employment:
    • Full time position, based in Bucharest - Magurele, Romania .

    • The candidate should be available to travel abroad for scientific collaboration at various research infrastructures, for part of their time.
