The VEGA LINAC system requires high precision and stable power supplies to energize magnets which provide the magnetic focusing fields for stable electron beam operation. Depending on the type of the magnet, the DC output power supply is either unipolar or bipolar. Unipolar current-regulated power supplies are required for dipoles, while bipolar current-regulated power supplies are required for corrector, quadrupole, and trim magnets. Output current stability is ± 50 ppm for unipolar power supplies and ± 250 ppm for bipolar power supplies.

Power supplies for the LINAC magnets were installed at ELI-NP during February 2024.

The project lead was ensured by the Gamma System Department, one of the ELI-NP research divisions, specifically designated to the development and operation of a high flux, high brilliance, monochromatic, energy tunable gamma-beam production system.
