First time RF power injected into the ELI-GBS Linac

2026-02-11

RF conditioning of the ELI-GBS Linac started successfully on February 5th. The radiofrequency (RF) pulses with the duration of 1 micro-second and pulse repetition rate of 1 Hz were transmitted from the klystron and fed into SLED cavity and accelerating structures through the waveguides. Peak power of 35 MW was achieved and detected at sensor pickups (RF directional couplers). This milestone was the successful result of mechanical installation, development of a limited remote control system, and cooperation of the LINAC subsystems including LLRF, vacuum and cooling water systems, and RF power units.
