LINAC Module 5 installed and ready for High Power RF

2026-02-06

LINAC Module 5 mechanical installation and vacuum checks were completed in January 2026. All connections of the waveguide system to the accelerating S-band structures as well as the connection to the klystron were finalized. The modulator-klystron assembly was repositioned to ensure proper alignment and coupling. All ion pumps associated with the waveguides and accelerating structures were connected to their respective controllers.

Following completion of the mechanical assembly, the entire module was leak-tested. Vacuum pumping was then initiated using a turbomolecular pumping station until a pressure in the 10-6 mbar range was achieved. Subsequently, the ion pumps were activated to further improve the vacuum level into the 10-9 mbar range. The accelerating structure is now under ultra-high vacuum conditions and is ready for RF conditioning.
